Dick’s write-up of Jessi’s VST track at the PAFTA test on Nov. 9, 2014:

The track was 4.5 hours old (alternate track) and quite warm. Good start, some working out the first turn (she was hung up in the planter boxes in the front of West Valley College). Turned left on a narrow walk, went to the end showing some interest midway at a cross path. At the end of the narrow walk she looked around then did two right turns onto a wide (main) walk (basically doing a back track of the narrow walk but 25 feet to its side. Just short of the mid way cross path she decided to take a break and sit (first intermediate article).
The rest of the track she did very well - checked all options and chose correctly.
Did encounter an off-leash dog on the third (I think) leg. Held Jessi, asked the owner twice to 'leash his dog,' only to be given a rude gesture. Finally he wandered off and I resumed tracking. The second intermediate article was about 50 yards later which helped.

Dimity Mueller and “Roo” DD’s Leaps and Bounds completed the TD test at Davis DTC test on March 23rd at Mather.

Hathor Farm's Pardon My Dust SW JE, "Piper" owned by Kerri Shandro DVM, passed the Tracking Dog test hosted by the Sacramento-Sierra Norwegian Elkhound Club at Mather Regional Park, Sacramento, CA on February 9, 2014, in the pouring rain with judges Meg Azevedo and Bob Rollins.

What an abrupt change of field conditions compared to the dry terrain we had been training on all season during our drought.
Thanks to all the volunteers who braved the weather to make this test happen, including our first time track layer!

Under more pleasant weather conditions on March 16, 2014, at Consumnes River College in Sacramento, CA, "Piper" had the privilege of running and passing the alternate track to earn her Tracking Dog Urban title (the first TDU title in California) with the Sacramento Dog Training Club under judges Kyla Smay and Meg Azevedo.

We especially thank the judges, test secretary Sue Green, tracklayer Sharon Losser, and photographer Martha Ho who all selflessly contributed to making this test and memories happen.

Many thanks indeed!

"Beckett" DD's Paws Before you Leap TDX, TDU, RN, CGC, WC, CCA owned by Megan Hundley and Michael Wilcoxen, earned her TDU on January 1, 2014 in Portland.

In the summer of 2013 the AKC announced a new tracking test called Tracking Dog Urban (TDU) that would be starting on January 1, 2014.

The rules of the TDU may be found here: http://www.akc.org/events/tracking/tdu.cfm

On January 1, 2014 there were three TDU tests being offered in the USA. Portland DTC was offering one at the University of Portland. The judges were Mr. Curt Curtis and Mrs. Karla Curtis.

We entered; we won the catalog draw and decided to run in the test. We drew track 2 and successfully completed a 5 turn 450 yard track in an urban environment. Our track had about 70 yards of non-vegetated surfaces and took us about 15 minutes to complete.
